What you need
- An Axpert-family inverter with an RS232 communication port.
- A USB charger and a socket near the inverter.
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi at the inverter.
1. Find the RS232 port
It is usually at the bottom of the inverter, an RJ45 socket labelled RS232, often next to a USB port and, on some models, a slot for a Wi-Fi dongle. If a dongle or cable is plugged into RS232, remove it: the port serves one device.
Do not confuse it with the BMS port (RS485 or CAN) used by lithium batteries, nor with the parallel ports on parallel-capable models.
2. Connect
Plug the supplied cable into the RS232 port and into the box. Power the box with USB-C. The screen turns on.
Do not open the inverter. Everything here is done from the outside, on a low-voltage communication port.
3. Wi-Fi
From your phone, join the Wi-Fi network created by the box; the setup page opens. Choose your home Wi-Fi and set a dashboard password.
4. Check the values
Open http://moniwatt.local. Compare the battery voltage and the load with the inverter display: they should match.
If nothing shows
- Check that no other device is connected to the USB port of the inverter; on some models it takes over the serial line.
- Make sure the cable is in RS232, not in the BMS port.
- Send us the diagnostics page and the inverter model; we answer fast.
